Description
Hanseatic buildings on the market square and models of orlog ships hanging from the ceiling of the Upper Town Hall - Bremen cannot deny its role in shipping.
The Bremen Roland, a stone figure from the 15th century and a symbol for the freedom of trade in the city of Bremen, can be seen in front of the Gothic town hall.
Both were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. Right next door is the “Bremer Loch”, an underground donation box that has a surprise in store for the donor. The city's most popular photo motif, however, is the group of figures of the Bremen Town Musicians, known from folk tales and now the city's secret landmark.
Other Bremen attractions are the Schnoorviertel, Böttcherstraße, the art gallery, the Schlachte promenade, the Vegesack Maritime Mile and the Überseestadt. But the Airbus visitor center for aerospace and the interactive science exhibition Universum Bremen are also worth a visit.
